Melissa Suzanne George was born in Australia, the daughter of Glenn George, a construction worker and Pamela, a nurse. Melissa was the second of four children. Since the early age of seven, George developed an enthusiasm in dancing so enrolled at Warwick Senior High School where she studied classical ballet, jazz, tap while she was also roller-skating at both international and national levels. Sixteen years old Melissa decided to drop out of school and embark upon a modeling career. This step quickly led to her being named Western Australia's Teenage Model of the Year. Despite having no acting experience, George was next cast as Angel Brooks in the popular Australian TV series “Home and Away” along side Guy Pearce and Heath Ledger.
George moved to Sydney to embrace an acting career. After making a big impact in the tv soap and being awarded many logie awards for her performance, George decided that three years on the show were enough and left to pursue other projects in the US. She posed in the Aussie edition of Playboy and starred in several tv movies until she made her feature film debut in Alex Proyas' SF film Dark City with Kiefer Sutherland and Jennifer Connelly. Her next appearance in film was for Steven Soderbergh's The Limey. George also played a small but crucial role as Camilla Rhodes in David Lynch's Mulholland Drive with Naomi Watts.
Additional film credits include: Down with Love, opposite Renee Zellweger and Ewan Mcgregor, Sugar and Spice John Hughes' New Port South and Derailed co-starring Jennifer Aniston and Clive Owen.
In 2003, after having a memorable performance lesbian nanny in the hit shoe Friends, George landed a prominent role, as the evil character, Lauren Reed, on the popular tv series Alias.
George is currently starring in HBO'S original series “In Treatment” with Diane Weist,Blair Underwood and Gabriel Byrne.
George is married to Chilean businessman Claudio Dabed and the couple lives in Los Angeles with Claudio's daughter from a previous marriage.
